A recent study published in the British Journal of psychology shows that the length of a child’s fingers may have an important relationship with his exam score.
The research team led by Mark Brosnan, a psychologist from the University of bath in the UK, selected 75 children aged 6-7 in a primary school in the UK as the research objects. The researchers measured the child’s finger length. At the same time, Brosnan also recorded the math and Chinese scores of these 75 children in the exam.
Then, the researchers compared the length of the children’s fingers, especially the ratio of the length of the index finger to the ring finger, with the test scores. The results showed that the smaller the ratio of the length of the boy’s index finger to the ring finger, the higher his math score, but his Chinese score was not affected much.
For a girl, the result is just the opposite. The smaller the ratio of the length of the index finger to the ring finger, the higher her Chinese score, but mathematics is not affected much.
Brosnan said that this conclusion can not be fully proved at present, because the length of the finger has an important relationship with the androgen that the fetus contacts in the mother, and this factor is not involved in the investigation and the investigation results.
