Eating at home has six health benefits

1. Children eat healthier. A survey in 2000 found that children aged 9 to 14 who eat at home eat fruits and vegetables most frequently and less fried food. And their diet contains more key nutrients, such as calcium, iron and fiber. Professor Matthew W. Gilman, director of the obesity prevention program of Harvard Medical School, was the first person to complete the survey. 3. Improve bad habits. Eating at home more than five times a week can significantly reduce the risk of smoking, drinking and drug abuse among adolescents. According to a report in the United States, the risk of taking prescription psychotropic drugs, marijuana, smoking and alcohol is 3.5 times, 2.5 times and 1.5 times higher for teenagers who eat at home less than three times a week.

4. The child’s grades are better. Among the children who eat with their families less than three times a week, 20% have poor grades, while among the children who often eat at home, this proportion is only 9%. Children can learn new knowledge and improve their learning ability by talking with their families when they eat at home.

5. Help women decompress. In 2008, researchers from Brigham Young University in the United States conducted a study on IBM employees. They found that sitting down to have dinner with family members can alleviate the stress and fatigue caused by working women working hard for a long time, but this is not very obvious for men.

6. It’s more economical. An American survey in 2007 showed that an American family spends an average of $3465 on eating at home and $2668 on eating out every year. However, eating out only accounts for 30%. According to the calculation, eating out costs an average of $8 per meal, and eating at home costs only $4.50.
