So far, cancer is still the most dangerous disease threatening human life. In 1978, I began to enter the field of cancer research, which has been more than 30 years. In my opinion, cancer is like a seed, and our bodies are the soil. Whether seeds can germinate and grow up depends entirely on the soil. Therefore, we should actively improve the “soil” and do a good job in prevention. On the basis of the key points of Cancer Prevention published by the World Health Organization and in combination with my own life and clinical experience, I summarize the following 16 suggestions for cancer prevention.
1. Do not eat moldy food when peanuts, soybeans, rice and flour are moldy, aflatoxin can be produced, which is a strong carcinogen and may cause liver cancer, stomach cancer and so on. In addition, there are also mottled aflatoxin and ochratoxin in moldy food, which have strong carcinogenic effects. Therefore, it is better not to eat moldy food.
2. Don’t cut vegetables too finely, and eat less smoked and pickled food in smoked and pickled foods, there is a large amount of nitrite. When it interacts with amine compounds in the human body, it will generate a strong carcinogen – nitrosamine. Pickles lead to the most nitrosamines, followed by dried and salted fish, red sausage, bacon, ham, bacon, etc., and shrimp paste, salted eggs, salted fish and other foods. Scientific experiments have confirmed that when nitrite meets twice the amount of vitamin C, it will not react with amines to form nitrosamines in the body. Reduce the loss of vitamin C in food during cooking, try to eat fresh food as soon as possible, don’t cut the food too fine, use cooking methods such as cooking more and expose the food less to the sun.
3. Eat less barbecue and fried food scholars from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found that people who eat French fries, chicken and fish once a week or more have a 37% higher risk of prostate cancer. When fish, meat and other foods are roasted with an open fire, at a high temperature above 400 ℃, the proteins and amino acids contained in them may decompose to produce polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon carcinogens, especially the scorched parts, which must be eaten less. When lamb kebabs are roasted, the fat will burn at high temperature to produce “3,4-benzopyrene”, which is recognized by the international medical community as one of the strongest carcinogens and may cause skin cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer and other cancers.
4. Eat more fresh vegetables and less meat some studies have found that about 30% of male tumors and 60% of female tumors are closely related to nutritional factors. The World Cancer Research Foundation found that eating more fruits and vegetables may reduce the incidence of pharyngeal cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer and other cancers. Eat at least 400g of different kinds of vegetables and fruits every day, preferably including different colors such as red, green, yellow and purple. The weekly intake of red meat should be less than 500g, otherwise it may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and other diseases. Processed meat products, such as sausages, should also be eaten less.
5. Wash pesticide residues in the past 20 years, there has been a high incidence of cancer. I think pesticides are one of the culprits, but no one knows whether the food we eat has been contaminated by pesticides. What we can do is to minimize pesticide residues. I’d like to introduce several methods to you: first, peeling, removing the outer leaves of grain hulls, fruit peels and root vegetables, can reduce pesticide residues by 40% ~ 90%; Second, washing with running water and adding salt to the water can reduce arsenic residues in vegetables and fruits; Third, vegetables are often boiled in water.
6. Drink less according to the world cancer research foundation, the risk of oral cancer and esophageal cancer increases significantly with the increase of intake of alcoholic beverages, beer, wine and spirits. If you must drink it, men should not exceed 2 servings per day (one serving contains 10-15g of alcohol), and women should not exceed 1 serving.
7. Do not smoke cigarette tar contains 4000 compounds, of which at least 43 compounds can cause cancer. Oncology has a “Burt’s smoking index”, which is calculated by multiplying the number of cigarettes smoked every day by the number of years of smoking. If the product is greater than 400 (cigarettes / year), the risk of lung cancer will be more than 10 times higher than that of non-smokers. More than 30% of cancers such as lung cancer, laryngeal cancer and esophageal cancer are related to smoking. In addition, smoking will also cause second-hand smoke and third-hand smoke pollution.
8. Use less plastic products for food in life, we often use plastic products to contain food, but we don’t know whether they are toxic or not. You can refer to the following identification methods: first, water detection. Put the plastic bag into the water, the non-toxic one can surface, and the toxic one will not float. The second is the hand touch color detection method. The non-toxic ones are milky white or colorless and transparent, with a lubricating feeling when touched by hand and a waxy feeling on the surface; Toxic color is turbid and sticky. The third is jitter detection. Grab the plastic bag and shake it hard. The sound is crisp and non-toxic; The sound is stuffy and poisonous.
9. Don’t overexert yourself in the sun furniture that is always exposed to the sun at home ages faster. To a certain extent, human skin is the same. Some studies have confirmed that excessive exposure to the sun in childhood will accelerate skin aging, or increase the probability of freckling and even cancer in adulthood. Therefore, although there are certain benefits to sunbathing, remember not to overexert yourself, especially children. Do not expose yourself to too strong sunlight for a long time. The ultraviolet rays are strongest from 11 am to 3 pm every day, and you should reduce the exposure; When the sun is strong and you need to go out, you’d better wear a sun hat, a sun umbrella, and long clothes and trousers with good ventilation; If you go to the beach, outdoor swimming pool and other places with water, you should pay attention to sunscreen.
10. Stay up less and get enough sleep in December 2008, the World Health Organization listed night shift as one of the factors prone to cancer. Studies have found that people who often stay up late will lead to a decrease in melatonin, which can inhibit tumors. If you don’t get enough sleep, the immune function of the human body will decline, and the life with black and white reversed will also affect the endocrine. Therefore, we should try to go to bed on time to ensure a good spirit when we wake up. Those who must work at night should try to reduce the number of night shifts. It is best to have 48 hours of rest after the night shift.
11. Open windows frequently for ventilation indoor pollution can’t be underestimated either. Pay attention to ventilation, especially in the toilet. The American Health Association pointed out that the high temperature and humidity environment in the toilet is more likely to promote the evaporation of washing powder, disinfectant and so on, and diffuse them in the air. Long term inhalation will stimulate the respiratory tract, damage the respiratory mucosa, and even induce cell mutation and lead to cancer. After using all kinds of detergents and detergents, the bottle mouth must be tightened, and the windows and exhaust fans must be frequently opened to increase air circulation.
12. Select materials carefully during decoration no radioactive materials and building materials containing carcinogens such as benzene, carbon tetrachloride, formaldehyde and dichloromethane are used. After the decoration is completed, you can move in after the indoor smell is discharged. When choosing decoration materials, the brighter the color of the stone, the stronger the radioactivity. White and black stones are relatively safe, while green and red stones are relatively unsafe.
13. Don’t take your work clothes home wash new clothes before wearing them; People working in hospitals, factories, mines and workshops should wash their hands or take a bath after work, and try not to take their work clothes home.
14. Exercise every day research results from the University of Vermont in the United States show that compared with men who are the least athletic, men with the best physical fitness are 68% less likely to suffer from lung cancer. Even if people have cancer, if they can keep exercising regularly, their living conditions will improve. Aerobic exercise and resistance training help to control inflammation and hormone levels, and enhance the function of the immune system to resist invading cancer cells.
15. Eat nuts eat three Brazil nuts every day because they can provide selenium which is beneficial to human health. Researchers at Harvard University found that there was a certain correlation between this and the 48% reduction in the incidence rate of advanced prostate cancer.
16. Form your own life rules pay attention to your physical feelings, and take this to form a law of life suitable for you, keep an open mind, and enjoy a happy life peacefully and naturally.
