We Chinese people often say, “it’s ten years old to laugh”. The latest medical research results abroad also show that regular laughter may help the human body prevent heart disease and stroke.
On the contrary, low mood, especially depression and tension, will make the human body more prone to illness or difficult to recover. For example, people who are depressed for a long time or who have suffered a sudden blow are easy to cause heart disease.
Medical research has confirmed that the risk of heart disease and stroke increases with the decline of normal blood vessel expansion, which causes blood to fail to pass normally.
The reason for this phenomenon is that when people are depressed, their brains often stimulate their bodies to secrete hormones that affect their health, resulting in the decline of immune system function and vasoconstriction. Whether people produce other hormones that promote health after laughing still needs further research.
In order to find out the influence of different external stimuli on blood flow in the human body, researchers selected 20 healthy men and women for experiments. First, the investigators arranged for these people to watch thrilling action movies and comedy movies, and then asked medical staff to measure the blood vessel expansion of the above participants before and after watching the movies.
The results showed that nervous and stimulating movies can reduce the blood flow of the human body by 35%, while laughing after watching comedy can stimulate the blood flow to increase by 22%, which is equivalent to the result of people participating in 15-30 minutes of exercise.
Now, it is generally believed that 30 minutes of exercise every day is very beneficial to health. In fact, if you keep laughing for 15 to 20 minutes every day, you will also gain a lot.
Of course, it is not enough to passively show “courtesy” facial smiles in the process of work or “welcoming and seeing off” to produce similar beneficial effects.
American scientists have conducted research on some patients who were hit hard by their lives and went to the emergency department. The results show that most of these patients have chest pain, suffocation and other symptoms, which are similar to the symptoms of heart attacks. However, unlike other heart disease patients, the above-mentioned people who call themselves “heartbroken” can recover quickly and leave the hospital after lying in bed and receiving a small amount of treatment.
The researchers explained that after a major life blow, people will have hormone secretion disorders, which may lead to cardiovascular contraction and trigger symptoms similar to those of heart attacks.
Scientists pointed out that people have long known that major life shocks can cause heart disease and sudden death, but “broken heart” syndrome is different. It only causes symptoms similar to heart disease and will not cause serious health hazards. This new discovery will help doctors make a correct diagnosis and avoid patients with “broken heart” syndrome from receiving unnecessary heart disease treatment.
Another successful study also found that keeping oral health can also reduce the incidence rate of heart disease and stroke. Many oral diseases can cause the loss of normal expansion of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular vessels, which can induce heart disease or cerebral thrombosis.
Some experts therefore suggest that adhering to the traditional “brushing your teeth twice a day and taking care of your oral health” is very good for promoting the health of your cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems. At the same time, other medical experts believe that the amount of sleep also affects the probability of heart disease.
The study found that compared with those who slept eight hours a night, those who slept five hours or less on average were 39% more likely to suffer from heart disease, and those who slept more than nine hours a night were also 37% more likely to suffer from heart disease. In this way, simply changing one’s lifestyle and maintaining a good attitude and living habits can promote health through the simplest way.
