As a senior netizen and psychologist, I am often in conflict. On the one hand, in response to the needs of social development, we should constantly teach more young people to learn and use the Internet; On the one hand, we should constantly solve all kinds of family, social and psychological problems caused by the Internet.
Although the Internet has both advantages and disadvantages, it is, after all, a warm spring breeze that can’t be stopped. However, no one can ignore the psychological problems brought by the Internet. The most serious one is Internet addiction syndrome.
Please take a look at an exaggerated portrait of an Internet addict: (1) when I see underlined places, I can’t help but click them with my mouse; (2) On the way to the toilet, you should turn back to check whether there is email; (3) Good friends are all net worms whom we have never met; (4) The first sentence when meeting people is “what’s your homepage”; (5) Feel uneasy and irritable when clicking on a page that cannot be opened; (6) We have designed beautiful web pages for ourselves, children, cats and dogs; (7) If you see anything good, you want to receive it in your “Favorites”; (8) Every day, I would go to the “chat room” to wait for my online lover. If I didn’t see her for a day, I would call her a hundred times with ICQ before I gave up.
The Internet addiction syndrome research center founded by Dr. Jim Burley, a professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States, shows that the most obvious symptom of patients is that they lose control of their working time on the Internet, and it is generally difficult to reduce their operating time. These people have a need to work immediately after waking up in the morning, and the situation about the Internet appears repeatedly in their dreams or imagination. Patients often indulge in online chat or online games while ignoring the existence of real life, or are no longer satisfied with real life. After suffering from Internet addiction syndrome, students often have a decline in their grades, fail in examinations, and feel indifferent to interpersonal relations.
The survey results on the Internet are even more surprising. 22 out of 100 Internet users think that using the Internet is similar to smoking addiction, and the wives or husbands who run household chores at home, rather than young students, are most at risk of addiction. In the United States, where there is no internet access, the number of divorces caused by the Internet has accounted for 1 / 3 of the divorces, and chat rooms are the biggest threat to marriage. Many people forget their families behind them because they indulge in surfing the Internet. Because people on the Internet are easier and dare to reveal their feelings than in reality, it is easier to form “online relationships”. This virtual online relationship will dilute the marriage relationship, and even lead to the embarrassing situation of “online lovers” challenging the real marriage.
With the wide application of the Internet, the challenge from the network is getting bigger and bigger. Therefore, psychological experts give the following advice to Internet users and their relatives: (1) strictly control the use time of the Internet; (2) Every day, 2-3 hours should be set aside for realistic communication with colleagues and family members; (3) Timely discover various symptoms that form internet addiction syndrome; (4) There is no specific treatment for Internet addiction syndrome. Once it appears, it can only be used for a limited time and receive psychological treatment when necessary.
