Toilets, door handles, bathtubs, and other places that look dirty, you can always think of cleaning them up.
But there are still some things in life that people thought were very clean, but they are really “bacterial strongholds”, which may threaten health, but you don’t realize it.
1. Clothes washed with underwear
A worn underwear can leave 100 million E. coli on the washing machine – equivalent to about 0.1 grams of excrement – and stay on it for several weeks.
It is useless to use detergent, and ordinary hot water cannot kill bacteria, because the resistance of this bacterium to heat is stronger than that of other Enterobacteriaceae. Some bacteria still survive after 60 minutes at 55 ℃ or 15 minutes at 60 ℃; It can even survive for weeks to months in natural water.
Boiling water can effectively kill E. coli, but it is impossible to pour boiling water into the washing machine, which may cause damage.
Therefore, the best way is to wash underwear by hand. Dissolve neutral detergent (such as soap powder or soap) in warm water at 30-40 ° C for washing. Avoid using washing powder because its residual irritation is too strong.
2. New clothes
After buying new clothes, many people are used to wearing them eagerly. A survey shows that only 22.8% of the people will wash new clothes after they are bought, of which nearly 61% will wash intimate clothes, and 8.24% will not wash any clothes.
Don’t do this again!
Dr. Philip Tierno of Microbiology at New York University found skin flora, feces and respiratory secretions on clothes purchased from stores. In addition, there are formaldehyde and NPE (nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether) on the new clothes.
Remember to wash the new clothes with hot water after you buy them home. And remember to wash your hands after shopping.
3. The lemon slice on the cup when drinking
Lemon has antibacterial properties, but the slice of lemon decorated on the cup when you drink contains bacteria.
A study published in the journal Environmental Hygiene investigated 21 restaurants and found that 70% of lemon decorations on cups contained pathogenic microorganisms. New York University once conducted a survey and detected human feces on half of lemon decorations.
These are all caused by the improper handling of employees, which makes lemons contaminated by Uncooked raw meat.
4. Automobile windshield
Most people wash their cars in a face saving way. The outside is polished, and the inside is polished at will or even ignored. Unexpectedly, the car is the real place to hide dirt!
Research shows that there are more than ten kinds of common bacteria in the car, such as mold, pneumococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and so on. Arizona State University researchers found in a sample that there is a bacterium on the windshield that can cause severe pneumonia.
Formaldehyde can be used because it has antibacterial properties. However, after disinfection, pay attention to adequate ventilation in the vehicle to avoid excessive inhalation of formaldehyde.
5. Car dashboard
In addition to the windshield, the dashboard is the second largest part of the car with bacteria, and the bacteria on it are surprisingly high.
You need to wipe with disinfectant once a week, and the corners can be cleaned with cotton swabs.
6. Contact lens case
34% of contact lens cases are full of Serratia and Staphylococcus aureus, well, more than 100000 bacteria. This may lead to corneal inflammation and even blindness.
Experts remind that you should wash your hands before wearing contact lenses. After wearing glasses, you should clean the glasses box and dry it at the same time, so as to facilitate reuse next time.
In addition to regular cleaning, there are also requirements for storage. It should not be placed in a damp place where bacteria are easy to breed. It should be replaced every three months.
