One night two months ago, a 30-year-old friend of the reporter, Xiao Wang, died suddenly at home. Humorous and optimistic, he was in the ascendant of his career, but suddenly such a tragedy happened. The reporter then found in Baidu news search that there were several such “inexplicable” deaths every day. Statistics in 2007 show that 540000 people died of heart disease alone in China.
Liu Deping, deputy director of the Department of Cardiology of Beijing Hospital of the Ministry of health, told the reporter that heart disease, hypertension, pancreatitis and other diseases can all lead to sudden death. Among them, heart disease is the most powerful “killer”. 90% of sudden deaths are related to this, and 80% of them are caused by coronary heart disease. Those with a history of myocardial infarction, heart failure and cardiac insufficiency are high-risk groups.
“It is worth noting that there are also a large number of low-risk people that cannot be ignored.” Liu Deping said that they usually look like healthy normal people without any problems, but if they go to the physical examination, they may find out cardiac hypertrophy, cardiomyopathy, insufficient blood supply, etc., which may lead to sudden death. The high incidence of “sudden sports death” among athletes is related to this. Compared with high-risk groups, this part of the people’s air defense awareness is poor and the risk of death is greater. For those who never check their bodies, sudden death may also be the first manifestation of coronary heart disease. In addition, special genes, severe hypoxia and improper medication can also lead to sudden death.
Zhang Hongbo, deputy chief physician of the emergency department of the China Japan Friendship Hospital of the Ministry of health, further emphasized that the trend of sudden death is obvious. In the face of strong life pressure, more and more people are tired, highly nervous and anxious, and are “helping the tyrant to do evil”. “People often die from overwork due to working overtime and playing mahjong for several consecutive days. This is because in the case of excessive fatigue, the sympathetic nervous and endocrine systems will be too tired or excited, resulting in cardiac dysfunction and tragedy.” Liu Deping explained.
Liu Deping reminded that the prevention of sudden death can not be “temporary cramming”. The most important thing is to do a good job of prevention in daily life. He gave the following suggestions: first, be highly alert for sudden death signals. If you have palpitation, chest tightness, chest pain, blackness and syncope, you must seek medical attention immediately and treat them in time if you are sick. Second, regular physical examination. The young people are checked once a year, and the middle-aged and old people are checked twice a year. It can find out the “hidden killer”, sound the alarm for low-risk people, treat them in time and prevent them. Third, people with high risk of heart disease should take nitroglycerin and quick acting heart saving pills with them for emergency use. Fourth, avoid drinking and overwork. Zhang Hongbo stressed that young and middle-aged people must change their living habits, learn to rest, and avoid continuous fatigue and tension.
