Special running shoes can’t reduce foot injury

Some shop assistants will recommend special sneakers for you, saying that the shoes can be designed according to your sports style and habits, and that such sneakers can effectively reduce the risk of injury to your feet in sports. Is this the case?

Modern medicine believes that most people rely on the outside of their heels to exert force when running, and at the same time, when their feet touch the ground, they have a slight rotation. This action can face the impact of feet and legs dispersedly, which is a self-protection mechanism of the body. However, flat feet lack the arch structure of the foot, so they need to make greater rotation.

In the past 40 years, the manufacturer has been committed to designing a special sneaker, claiming that this kind of sneaker can lift our feet according to the foot shape, so that the pronator muscle of the foot can more match the foot movement, which can not only shock the runners whose feet are excessively pronated (or pronated), but also make their every step more stable.

However, there is insufficient evidence that sports injuries can be reduced by wearing special sneakers. A study in Denmark this year recorded the exercise results of 927 participants aged from 18 to 65. Through their running, a quarter of them were injured, but the injury did not have much to do with whether they were pronating or not when they were walking.
