Traditionally, women are weak and vulnerable to emotional problems. But a new study published on the US “Health Day” website found that men were more depressed, sad and anxious than women after breaking up.
Researchers from Queensland University of technology in Australia conducted a five-year follow-up survey of 2000 lovers. Some of them entered the palace of marriage and some eventually separated. Among those who break up, men are more likely to relieve their pain through drinking and taking drugs. The average time for men to start their next relationship is 6 months shorter than that for women. Men also often try to hide their pain and seldom talk to others. After breaking up, women can better adapt to the end of the relationship, because they will start to consider the possibility of breaking up and coping styles in advance.
Previously, another related study showed that the happiness brought by love to men was equivalent to getting about 30000 US dollars, about twice that of women. Breaking up will reduce men’s happiness and make them less confident. “In a sincere relationship, men are actually more afraid of breaking up than women, and they are also less willing to hear these two words.” The researchers said.
