Poor sleep not only affects mood and energy. According to a recent report by the British Daily Mail, Norwegian researchers found that people who lack sleep have an average increase of 50% in the probability of suffering from physical pain.
Researchers from Norwegian University of science and technology investigated more than 27000 people and divided them into different groups according to their sleep habits. At the beginning of the survey, none of the participants had chronic physical pain. After 11 years, it was found that compared with those who slept well, the probability of chronic back pain increased by 32% for women who slept poorly occasionally, and 66% for women who slept less for a long time; Among men, the increase was 30% and 51%, respectively. For women with the worst sleep, the incidence of neck pain and shoulder pain increased by 53% and that of men increased by 58%.
The study, published in the European Journal of public health, said that sleep problems are an independent risk factor for chronic muscle and bone pain. The reason may be that lack of sleep will lead to inflammatory reactions in the body, which will lead to pain. Chronic pain will affect sleep, and lack of sleep will aggravate pain and plunge the body into a vicious circle.
