2. Origin of karate name

Karate was developed by combining traditional Japanese fighting skills with tangshou. Japanese traditional martial arts combined with tang hand to form “Karate”.

Tang hand is different from empty hand. Karate was formed in the later period. Karate was originally called “Karate”. According to legend, “Karate” originally had no Chinese character notation. According to Chuan yueyizhen (Rong Yiren), “Kara!” The meaning of the word is unclear. The tang hand can be interpreted as “Tang hand” because the martial arts department is developed from the martial arts of the Tang people (Chinese).

We can observe the prototype of the tang hand from karate. Modern karate is different from the tang hand because it incorporates the fighting skills of Kyushu and Honshu in Japan, which makes people feel that karate is partially different from Chinese martial arts. But there are also some skills in karate that come from Chinese crane boxing.

The tang hand was probably brought to Kyushu and Ryukyu in Japan by Tang Dynasty envoys in the Tang Dynasty and developed in combination with local martial arts. Karate was developed by the tang hand combined with the Japanese martial arts.

3. Karate rank

Karate’s segment level system and ribbon system were created with reference to judo. The karate rank system was issued by Chuan Yue Yizhen in 1924, which is the earliest karate rank system in history.

Like judo, karate is divided into black belt and white belt. A black belt is a person with a period, and a white belt is a beginner. Between the black belt and the white belt (level 1-3), most schools have tea belts. Some schools originally had green, yellow, and green bands, but today they have been generalized. There are differences in segment level and color band among various schools. The traditional empty hand segment is recognized by the all Japan Karate League.

The titles of karate include Fan Shi, priest (Master) and Yi Shi, which were first awarded by the great Japan Wushu Association. After Japan surrendered in 1945, it was disbanded under the order of the supreme commander of the United Nations (GHQ / SCAP). After that, it will be awarded by each school or guild.

In the process of karate practice, it is not only the contraction of skeletal muscles, but also the comprehensive development of children’s right brain functions such as spatial perception, experience and type recognition, which is very conducive to the development of children’s right brain functions such as spatial transformation and body perception, and can effectively improve children’s image thinking and creativity.

know the rules of propriety

Karate pays attention to etiquette, which not only strengthens the body and improves the human function, but also improves the comprehensive quality of the spirit, mind and morality of the practitioners. Karate advocates the martial spirit of “ceremony begins and ends”. It stresses that people should learn etiquette before they learn art and morality before they learn martial arts. In karate training, children can understand the meaning of “courtesy” and know how to express “courtesy”.

Is it better for girls to learn karate or Taekwondo

Both can be used in actual combat. Taekwondo stresses long-range attack while karate stresses close combat. Both of them are more suitable for girls to practice, but Taekwondo is still preferred in China.

On the one hand, Taekwondo has relatively low requirements on the physical quality of girls, while flexibility and other requirements are also consistent with the physiology of girls, while karate is dominated by boxing.

Due to political, cultural, historical and other factors, karate is not popular in China, and the degree of internationalization is far less than Taekwondo. There are few formal karate halls in China, and Taekwondo halls are relatively complete.

Therefore, it is better for girls to choose Taekwondo for practice, but martial arts are no match for each other, and the key lies in individual practice.
