Shoulder pain is one of the sub-health conditions encountered by many office white-collar workers. Many people think that they are entangled by shoulder periarthritis. However, Professor Cui Guoqing, member of the sports traumatology group of the Chinese Sports Medical Association and vice chairman of the sports Protection Specialist Committee of the Chinese Sports Science Association, believes that most of the shoulder pain of young people is actually not shoulder periarthritis but may be rotator cuff tear. If there is no reasonable health care and treatment, the more it is treated, the more it hurts.
misconception: shoulder pain not all shoulder periarthritis
According to Professor Cui Guoqing, at present, white-collar workers have two major misunderstandings about shoulder pain. First of all, as long as there is shoulder pain, it is considered as periarthritis of shoulder. In fact, there are many reasons for shoulder pain, in addition to periarthritis of the shoulder, it may also be caused by rotator cuff tears. If the rotator cuff tear is treated as periarthritis of the shoulder, the more it is treated, the more painful it will be. The second misconception is that shoulder pain can only be raised. This is because many people think that shoulder pain is periarthritis of shoulder, and the main treatment for periarthritis of shoulder is to take some medicine, strengthen exercise and wait for self-healing. But if it is not periarthritis of shoulder, such treatment will delay the opportunity. Cui Guoqing said that in addition to shoulder pain, real periarthritis of the shoulder also has the symptom of inability to lift the shoulder – limited in all directions.
treatment: beware of rotator cuff tear as periarthritis of shoulder
Professor Cui Guoqing said that at present, many patients with rotator cuff tears are treated as scapulohumeral periarthritis. There is a group of tendons around the shoulder joint that wrap the joint like a cuff. It is easy to break the tendons during exercise, which is called rotator cuff tear. Its performance is mainly pain when lifting the shoulder, but it doesn’t hurt after lifting it; The manifestation of periarthritis of shoulder is that the shoulder cannot be lifted up. So patients can distinguish these two diseases by themselves. Cui Guoqing reminded that young people rarely get shoulder periarthritis, generally over the age of 50, so don’t think that you have shoulder periarthritis as soon as you have shoulder pain and choose various physical treatments. You must be vigilant about whether your rotator cuff is torn to avoid aggravating the condition.
protection: shrugging is beneficial to shoulder joint health
Cui Guoqing reminded that office workers must pay attention to the protection of shoulder joints in their daily life. There are some small movements that are very helpful to alleviate shoulder discomfort: first, shoulder pulling, such as shoulder joint external rotation, stick to the body, and pull back with both hands; Or cross your hands and lift them up to the maximum until they are fully raised. As long as you insist on doing these two movements 5-6 times a day, you can basically eliminate periarthritis of shoulder. At the same time, frequent shrugging is also very good for the protection of the shoulder joint.
In addition, adequate preparation and activities before exercise are beneficial to the protection of the shoulder joint. For example, do dumbbell exercises for moving the upper body and upper limbs in several sections (such as chest enlargement, side lift, shoulder joint circling, etc.), or do 2-3 groups of bench press, arm bending lift and other exercises with light instruments, so as to make muscles, ligaments and other tissues reach a certain “heat” and avoid damaging the shoulders.
