No matter how clean a person is, it is easy to ignore one detail, which is the key we touch every day. As the most easily transmitted carrier of bacteria, its hygiene is related to everyone’s health.
Everyone knows that coins are full of bacteria, so they pay attention to cleaning their hands after touching money, but few people realize that the keys they carry are also an out and out bacteria bank. Previous research by City University of Hong Kong showed that the average bacterial content of each RMB was 178000. However, according to the detection of the health department, more than 80% of the keys contain dysentery bacillus, typhoid bacillus, E. coli, etc., and the largest number of keys contain 280000 bacteria, which is far higher than a banknote. The main reason why there are so many bacteria on a small key is that most people put the key together with other sundries, coins, etc., and get a lot of bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms through friction. In particular, some public keys are often labeled with tapes and labels. After countless contacts, more dirt and bacteria accumulate. However, most people do not care after touching the key, and drink water, eat and take food directly without washing their hands, which may bring bacteria into their bodies and cause a variety of diseases.
There are many ways to “sterilize” the key. Experiments have found that alcohol disinfection is far better than ordinary water, and can kill more bacteria. Therefore, the key can be soaked in 75% medical alcohol every half a month to one month, and the sterilization effect can be achieved after 20 minutes. If there is no alcohol, soaking in soap solution or boiling water can also kill some bacteria. In addition, on a sunny day, most bacteria can also be killed by the ultraviolet rays of the sun when the key is exposed to the sun for half an hour.
To make your keys cleaner, you need to correct the habit of littering your keys everywhere. The more places it has been, the more bacteria it will be contaminated with. When it is put in the bag, it can be equipped with a key bag, or put them in a plastic bag or a small cloth bag separately to reduce the chance of “close contact” with other sundries. In addition, after opening the door with a key and entering the house, wash your hands with soap and water, so as not to let your hands become an intermediary for the spread of germs.
