Walking into the lamp market, from ceiling chandeliers to desk lamps, people are always dazzled by all kinds of lights, of which more than half are energy-saving lamps known for their power saving and durability. Recently, it has been reported in the UK that long-term use of energy-saving lamps will increase the risk of retinal damage and cause serious eye diseases.
Marshall, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of London, said that energy-saving lamps contain argon and mercury. After heating, they will release ultraviolet rays with strong energy, and the lamp bladder wall will emit light after absorbing energy. If the human eye is exposed to such strong light for a long time, it is like being exposed to the sun for a long time, which will increase the risk of retinal damage and lead to eye diseases such as age-related maculopathy and cataract. Huang Yan, a physician at Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital in Beijing, pointed out that energy-saving lamps are harmful to eyes, according to the medical forum. They all believe that incandescent lamps with tungsten filament as the lamp bladder do not have such problems, and call for the return of traditional incandescent lamps. Then, will energy-saving lamps be sentenced to death?
Incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps have their own advantages and disadvantages. Traditional incandescent lamps emit light by thermal radiation. They produce a lot of heat, consume a lot of energy, have a service life of about 1000 hours, have soft light, continuous spectrum, and the main color is yellow red, which is closer to sunlight. It is beneficial to the vision and can be turned on for instant illumination; The energy-saving lamp uses ultraviolet light to excite fluorescent powder to emit light, with less heat production and energy consumption. Under the same energy consumption, the brightness is 4-5 times that of incandescent lamps, and the service life is 3000-8000 hours. However, the light is dazzling, the color is blue, slightly different from natural light, and it needs to be delayed for several minutes to reach the design brightness.
Although energy-saving lamps have shortcomings in some aspects, it is an exaggeration to say that they will cause diseases. First of all, it needs to be clear that ultraviolet radiation is not a bad thing, but also has a sterilization effect. Most ultraviolet rays are classified as non ionizing radiation, and only the ultraviolet spectrum with higher energy is ionized. However, energy-saving lamps with low intensity produce very little ultraviolet rays and will not cause harm to human bodies.
Some people believe that energy-saving lamps emit light through stroboscopic light, which is more harmful to vision than the continuous spectrum of incandescent lamps. In fact, our visual cells are a kind of brain cells. They have a common feature, that is, they have a memory function. When the external scenery suddenly disappears, the image of the optical nerve will last for about 0.1 seconds, and the strobe of the energy-saving lamp is less than 0.1 seconds. Therefore, it will not have a great impact on human vision. What needs to be clear is that China’s lighting industry has scientific and strict inspection standards for the delivery of lamps. As long as the lamps are produced by regular manufacturers and tested through regular channels, there will be no excessive ultraviolet rays and unstable stroboscopic light, and consumers need not worry too much.
The most sensitive color of human visual cells is yellow. Compared with the blue and white spectrum of energy-saving lamps, the soft yellow light of incandescent lamps is more beneficial to vision. In fact, the most reasonable choice of lamps is to use LED energy-saving lamps. LED energy-saving lamps are more advanced than traditional energy-saving lamps, and there are many kinds of light colors. As long as you choose light yellow energy-saving lamps, you can save energy and protect your eyes.
Compared with what lamp to use, the correct habit of using eyes is more important: 90% of people write with their right hands, so the table lamp should be placed in the left front of the body to avoid affecting the line of sight. The brightness of the table irradiated by the light should be 100 ~ 300 lux, and the irritation to the eyes is minimal within this range. Reading, using a computer, playing with a mobile phone, etc. are all close-up eyes, so we should rest every 45 minutes and overlook for 3 minutes.
